La Profaondeur du Soleil

an audiovisual installation by Herd Deep

La Profaondeur du Soleil was an audiovisual celebration of the many aspects of our star the Sun. It featured an ever-changing projection of solar images from art, mythology and science layered with photographs taken in Guernsey . This was underpinned by an electronic soundscape which alluded equally to the Sun's benign, life-giving aspect and its awe inspiring immensity and power. An interactive element enabled the audience to participate in the ritual by using a controller to trigger sounds which were created to resonate with the ambience generated by the projections.

La Profaondeur du Soleil took place in April 2007 as part of the opening celebrations at Guernsey's new Performing Arts Centre. A DVD of the piece is currently in production.
